Summer Sale – WILD HORSES

I can’t believe it’s been three years since Wild Horses was first released!

This was my first romantic suspense story and why I fell in love with writing the genre–if not for Wild Horses, I might not’ve started Midsummer Suspense Tales and The Book of Love (which is out Friday–my THIRTEENTH release!). In case you’ve missed it, this short novel is on sale for the month of June for 99c.

Popular blogger Danyiah Jackson is known for finding the humor in anything—until some of her fan mail turns threatening and a stalker makes it clear he’s been watching her. She grudgingly accepts the advice of a threat assessment expert and disappears from the online world, taking temporary refuge at a family friend’s quarter horse ranch in the country.
Head horse wrangler Adam Cooper isn’t thrilled about the smart-mouthed young woman suddenly living and working at the ranch—even if she’s drop dead gorgeous. But their verbal sparring sets his body ablaze and gets his heart racing, and he’s drawn to her despite his misgivings.
As Danyiah and Adam fight their attraction, however, her stalker draws near, putting not only their fledgling love but their lives on the line.

What I’m Working On: SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL

Well, I Who Have Nothing should’ve already been out, but I admit, this one’s my fault–for some reason, this book has been a total pain to come together. I reached a point where I had to say, okay, do you keep beating your head against a wall, or do you move on to something else? Hoping that some distance will help when I go back to IWHN, I decided to work on Sympathy for the Devil, the sequel to Wild Horses.

And this one’s definitely flowing! I’m hoping you’ll get to see it late July or maybe August.

It’s decidedly darker than Wild Horses. The humor readers enjoyed from the first book isn’t really present, as it’s a different couple and therefore a different tone. The suspense/mystery is heightened and is firmly at the forefront, though the sex is still steamy and kinky. It’s a bit of a departure but I’m loving it.

So that’s where things are with me. Afterward, I’ll finish up I Who Have Nothing, update with more details about Cats in Heat, get started on Gimme Shelter (Stirling Falls #3), and go from there.  Longer books do take longer to write, and while I’d love to add a few fun novellas here and there, I learned my lesson with WH: Cold, Cold Winter (I think everyone hated that *sigh*). If I’m quiet, know I’m still hard at work!

The blurb for Sympathy as a refresher:

Natasha Whitaker is a workaholic, putting in long hours to acclimate herself to the P.I. business in preparation to take over for her aging mentor. But the day after her boss’s retirement doesn’t bring the usual insurance fraud and cheating spouses: instead, a dead body shows up in a startling similar fashion to a home invasion cold case from years ago.

Complicating matters is the return of Devin Archer–estranged husband of the original victim–to Stirling Falls. He was the prime suspect in the first case, though slipped away when there wasn’t enough evidence to prove his guilt. With bodies piling up the same time as his arrival, all eyes in town turn to him once again.

Tash is hired by the brother of the first victim to keep tabs on Devin, a task she eagerly accepts. But she can’t help her attraction to this dark, potentially dangerous suspect, or deny the instant heat between them. Is Devin a broken man still suffering from the loss of his wife, or a cold-blooded killer setting his sights on Tash as his next victim?

Turning a COLD, COLD WINTER a Lil Bit Hotter

It’s official: Dani and Adam are back for the holidays.

I mentioned previously I was hoping to call it “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”–I love that song and I think the cheeky tone fits the characters. But the title was already in use with the publisher, so that left me on the hunt for another title…

A quirk of mine is that I like to pick song titles for my books, and series often are linked by a musician. Stirling Falls? Wild Horses, Sympathy for the Devil, Gimme Shelter…The Rolling Stones, obviously.

I adore the Stones song “Winter” but I thought the title needed a little more, so this novella is officiall called Wild Horses: Cold, Cold Winter.

Six months after the events of Wild Horses, blogger Danyiah Jackson happily lives in the country, loving—and often shocking—her broodtastic horse wrangler boyfriend, Adam Cooper.

But her surprise Christmas present for him, done as a prank for her blog and to spring some life-changing news, incites an argument months in the making, bringing the insecurities and vulnerabilities of the pair to the forefront. Adam wants more than he fears she’s willing to give, and Dani has a secret of her own that she fears will tear everything apart.

Is a happily-ever-after really possible for an opposites-attract romance?

What I’m Working On…

Well, I did take my self-imposed break after all the piracy and feel a bit better. Currently, STILL IN LOVE WITH YOU–the next Circle of Friends novella–is in progress. I’m also drafting up a new paranormal side project called CATS IN HEAT. Still on the brain is SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIl–it definitely won’t be seen until the end of the year at the earliest. Novellas are just a lot easier to get through with working full time.

Speaking of, I found out today WILD HORSES was the Top Pick in the AllRomanceeBooks newsletter! Woot! It came with a wonderful review, and now the WH book page at ARe has a nifty little symbol to signify it. I’m so thrilled! It’s always great to hear when people enjoy the work.

I have lots to get done and little time to do it in, so it’s back to work with me.

Happy reading!
