New Preorder: LOST (Midsummer Suspense Tales #6)

Return to the sleepy hamlet of Midsummer for another fairytale-inspired romantic suspense tale! (Hansel and Gretel this time!)

A single father’s worst nightmare has come to pass…

Clive Yates has been a single father for the past five years, raising his young kids on his own after their mother abandoned them. But his whole world is shattered the moment they’re taken, and the police inform him the M.O. resembles that of a long-dormant serial killer of children. The dangerous forest outside of Midsummer is massive, and with no idea where to search, he fears his kids might not be found in time. But there is one person who has seen the killer’s face, a girl who escaped with her brother so many years ago.

She survived what no child should ever suffer…

Fifteen years ago, Greta Weaver and her foster brother were abducted and brought to a cabin of horrors deep in the forest. They escaped, but just barely, both with scars that have made growing up difficult. She’s tried to make a life for herself outside her childhood town, though nightmares plague her sleep and she’s kept herself isolated. Her abductor—almost killer—was never caught, and part of her always remained lost in those woods, afraid of what would happen if he found her.

When Clive comes to her for help, she just wants to hide from the world, but can’t bear the thought of seeing a parent lose his children. She’ll have to confront her fears–and her past–if Clive is ever going to see his kids again.

Hopefully by the time this one releases, I’ll have my next release up for preorder as well–I’m trying to focus on some standalone works for a bit. I’ll revisit Midsummer for the final trilogy toward the end of the year or early next.

New Pre-order: ALLEY CAT

The cats are back!

The fourth Cats & Conjure story is on its way in March.

To those who kindly didn’t send me hatemail for the ending of Stray Cat Strut: THANK YOU. I was tremendously proud of the ending of that story, as sad as it was, and I didn’t want anyone to wait another year for the next one. As I’ve said before, sales are always low with these ones, so I have to squeeze them in between other releases. There are two final books coming, hopefully by the end of the year, and then there’ll be a print collection of the final volume.

Here are the details!

4-AlleyCatAdelaide Deveraux has at last come into her powers, but her gifts have come with a price: she has lost the love of her life. Now surrounded by allies but still utterly alone, she’s seeking to build a new Sanctuary and provide shelter for those who need it, even though none of it will heal her broken heart.

Tiger-shifter Erik Wells was willing to sacrifice everything to save Addie from the psychopathic sorcerer after her, including his life. But despite paying the ultimate price and annihilating their enemy once and for all, he still isn’t at peace. Some greater power is seeking to resurrect Erik, willing to move heaven and hell to see him breathe again. Whether that power is good or evil, he doesn’t know, and he’s running out of time as something’s hunting him in the underworld, seeking to destroy his very soul.

I’m also halfway through the next Midsummer Suspense Tale, Gold, so stay tuned for that in the spring (and news about the future of the Midsummer Suspense series)!

Preorder: THE BOOK OF LOVE

I’m pleased to announce that my new novel The Book of Love is up for preorder on Kindle, Nook, Kobo, ARe, and iTunes.

This is a contemporary romance about a jaded romance writer and his new editor, with some elements of humor and a bit of suspense. It’s a full-length novel, about 70 000 words (around the length of Sympathy for the Devil). The official release date is June 5.

It will also be available in paperback early May.

There is a brief excerpt from when I was writing it last year available here.

In July, the first Midsummer Suspense Tales boxset will release. I am aiming for I WHO HAVE NOTHING to release at last around September or so, depending on how writing it goes. Toward the end of the year, I’d like to get written and released STRAY CAT STRUT and possibly BEAST. Sales of SNOW haven’t been too bad so I’ll look at the numbers in the fall and decide if the series is continuing. Thank you to everyone who has purchased it so far.

Romance editor Janaeh Forrester is a problem solver. A Jill of all trades, she’s worked in all aspects of publishing and no challenge is too big for her to overcome. It’s this reputation that leads her new employer to send her after the elusive Delilah Daniels, their top selling romance writer, who won’t deliver her latest manuscript and made the last editor quit.

But “Delilah” is nothing that Janaeh expects. It’s the pen name of Carter Daniels, a thirty-something man as sexy as he is arrogant and frustrating.

Six months have passed since Carter’s divorce was finalized and writing happily-ever-afters seems like a lie he can no longer tell. When Janaeh shows up at his door with a schedule in hand and threats to take back his advance if he doesn’t meet his deadlines, he assumes it’s a joke. But his attractive new editor is there to see that he finishes the book, driving him mad with both irritation and desire.

Her presence stirs up something far more sinister, however: Janaeh is directly in the path of Carter’s more fanatical followers, and someone will stop at nothing to get her out of the way.

MIDSUMMER SUSPENSE: New Release, Sale, & Pre-order

BEAUTY is now available everywhere in ebook and paperback!
SHE DOESN’T KNOW THE DANGER COMING FOR HER…

Awkward, wild child Bryar Rosings was raised in the country by her aunts, isolated from the world at large. Her birth family remains a mystery to her, secrets kept hid…den away to prevent a dangerous foe from locating her. Still she longs for a life outside of Midsummer and finally plans to make her big getaway just as soon as she has the money saved up. It’s not like there’s anything else keeping her there.

IN RUNNING AWAY FROM HIS LIFE, HE FINDS WHAT HE LEAST EXPECTED…

Troubled pop star Sean Philip Sawyer needs a break from life as much as from his career. A quiet town like Midsummer, outside the usual vacation season, seems like the perfect place to forget his past and ignore his future. A chance encounter at a late night beach party, however, turns up the one thing he never thought he’d find: a woman who doesn’t recognize him. Bryar arouses and fascinates him in turn, stirring hope for a future without fame.

But a chance video going viral kicks into motion a decades’ old grudge that threatens not only their love but their lives. As a mysterious, powerful criminal known as The Dragon rises, Bryar’s dark past could spell their end unless Sawyer can save them both.

(51K-word/150-ish pages short novel; standalone, following Cinders [2014], interracial erotic romantic-suspense, loosely based on Sleeping Beauty)

The third Midsummer Suspense Tale is almost here!

KindleAReNookKoboiBookstoreSmashwords (it’ll be in paperback sometime in March)

Release: March 27, 2015

A witness hidden
away in a small town.
After waitress Liliana
White witnessed a murder, she wanted nothing to do with helping the police or
putting the target behind bars. She’s not interested in justice or being a hero;
she just wants to stay alive. A brutal death waits for her if the culprits get
their hands on her, and given that one of them is her ex-boyfriend, she knows
precisely what he’s capable of and will avoid him at all costs.
The bodyguard
sworn to protect her.
Stoic and
efficient, personal security expert Michael O’Hara is cautious in all
things—both work and women—and has built a reputation in the private sector as
the top of his field. But though he thinks he’s seen it all, nothing has
prepared him for keeping Liliana White safe. She doesn’t trust him, doesn’t
trust the police, and not even a vicious contract killer known as The Huntsman
on her heels is enough to convince her she needs him.

But Liliana does
need him. Only Mike stands between her and certain death, and despite all he
does to keep his emotional distance, the longer he spends with her, the more he
has to face the possibility that he just might need her too.

Don’t forget, Beauty is on its way next week: January 23, 2015.

—–

Snow is another category length novel, around the size of Beauty. I’d meant to be working on The Book of Love next but I was really excited to write this one, so I took a little detour.

What’s next for Midsummer after this? It’ll really depend on sales, unfortunately. I have Beast and Red roughly mapped out but I’d like to see how Byar’s (and now Mike’s) story does before I commit to it. This is, unfortunately, how things work in publishing, and why Cats & Conjure hasn’t concluded yet. Books require a huge investment of time to write and money to publish, and the only way I can work on something that doesn’t sell as well is if the others make up the difference. I want to write more Midsummer stories (and finish Stray Cat Strut, and Gimme Shelter), but it has to be financially viable for me to do so.

I get your inquiries about these books, I hear you, and I promise I’m doing my best. Thank you to those of you who purchase my books. To those who pirate, well…delays and cancellations fall firmly on your shoulders, I’m afraid. I can’t work for free.

I’m going to try to finish up the summer release I have in progress at the moment. Keep following the blog for details!
