Books in Print

Just a quick note that my longer titles are currently available in print format.

This includes Cinders, Wild Horses, and Sympathy for the Devil. Future titles will hopefully release in print the same time as ebook when long enough. (At the very least, a long novella like Cinders or a short novel like Wild Horses–anything Sympathy’s length, definitely.)

I’ve had a lot of visitors to the site the past while looking for book updates. As mentioned here, it’s been a really tough year for me and my family, and my health has not been great, so writing unfortunately went to the backburner. I still have a lot in progress and will hopefully have some news for you soon, but I’ve wiped everything off my plate for 2014 and should be back with new releases in the new year.

Thank you so much to everyone who purchased up Cinders and continues to seek out my backlist. Your support is what draws me back when I’m tired and feel like closing up shop for good. I’ll endeavor to deliver more stories for you that I sincerely hope you’ll enjoy as much as I do.

If you want to be notified about new releases, I have a mailing list for that. You can also follow my Facebook page and you’ll find me on Twitter.

“Where is the next Circle of Friends book?” & Reader Questions

I think the number one search term that brings readers to my blog is “Still in Love with You” Asha King.

How Can You Mend a Broken Heart? came out in May, Wild Horses was in June, and Broken Heart‘s sequel was due out last July.

Then that thing happened where I got grumpy and didn’t write for a while.

I tried to get back on the proverbial horse, I did. We’d aimed for Still in Love with You to come out in August. Then September. I mean, it’s a 16-17K word novella–it shouldn’t be that difficult to write, should it?

But I didn’t write a word for four months.

I don’t mean to harp on anything, folks. I know that 95% of the people reading this wouldn’t dream of pirating a book (which, as a friend once said, stealing from a writer is like stealing from a homeless person–we make so little money, it’s a terrible thing to do). And I don’t particularly want to even be talking about this, but I feel bad every time I see someone looking for a book that was promised but isn’t out yet. This is the reality I can’t help and it’s just one of the consequences of these things; every time I look at that doc, I just associate it with a particularly awful time in my writing life.

I also realized I much, much prefer romantic suspense to straight contemporary romance. I’m not as comfortable writing a non life-or-death conflict, and while many readers object to shorter novellas, I honestly have trouble trying to drag out relationship-based conflict when everyone just having a grownup conversation will suffice. It’s a great genre but I think I’m better at writing suspense.

So as it stands, Still in Love with You is still contracted, still in progress, and will still hopefully be released a few months from now. It’s just not the project I’m focusing on at this moment. I’d like to get some other work out there, both romantic suspense and a paranormal romance I’ve been plotting for a while.

What am I working on? Still plugging away at I Who Have Nothing, which I hope to finish by the end of the month and then see if my editor likes it, and afterward I’ll try to jump into Sympathy for the Devil–I’m pursuing some longer projects at the moment, which all take more time. I also signed an audiobook contract for Wild Horses so I might have news on that front soon.

But, lesson learned, I’m not going to give any projected dates or publicly mention deadlines, as anything can happen.

As always, thank you so much for reading and I hope you can join me for what I have planned for the new year.

Taking a Break

Well…it’s been an interesting week, darlings.

I started out SO excited. Wild Horses was *finally* coming out. This book took about three months for me to write–I had to revise things a lot of times, as a novel (even a short one) is an entirely different beast from a novella. You might know it was originally scheduled for a June 5 release but I got a two week extension because it wasn’t ready in time. I really stressed over this book but, in the end, I was proud of it. I love the characters. I had a lot of fun writing the sex scenes. And I was really hoping it was one readers would love too, since they’ve been asking for longer works by me.

The day after Wild Horse was released, it was requested at a piracy forum (already pirating one of my novellas).

I won’t get into complaining about this or explaining why it’s wrong. Lots of others have before me and I’m nowhere near as eloquent.

The problem is that I politely wrote to this forum, explaining that I’m a new author, this is a new release not selling many copies, and could they please have some empthay for me and take it down–I’m trying to provide for my family here. Instead, one of the admins bought the book a few hours later just to upload it.

It hits like a punch in the gut, the wind knocked out of you. This book was so hard to write. And I know readers frequently complain they want longer books by me but…but I’m looking at my plans for the next Stirling Falls book, Sympathy for the Devil, and wondering whether or not it’ll be worth it. Hopefully, a few royalty statements from now will show it *is* worth it despite the piracy and maybe Sympathy can be out by the end of the year. I hope so–I really want to share Tash’s book with you.

The next Circle of Friends novella, Still In Love with You, was due out next month, but I think I’m going to grudgingly ask for another extension and take a bit of a break right now. I’ve had one release after another and this past week hit me really hard. I’m not ashamed to say I cried when they uploaded my new book–it hurt. Hopefully Kashayla and AJ’s story will release in August instead and I’ll get back in the groove of things again.

If you bought any of my books, I want to personally thank you so much. I wish more readers were like you and I really hope you enjoy my stories. <3

New Novella Finished – And a Big THANK YOU to Readers!

The other night, I finished my next novella. It needs another readthrough and some cleaning up, but I’m glad to have it done. It’ll be ready to send in to the editor shortly. I’m taking a little break and then I’ll go on to finish Wild Horses and hopefully have that turned in by the end of April.

Busy busy!

I’d also like to send my thanks to everyone who purchased Near to You (though only those who stumble across my humble blog will see this): it not only has bestseller status on All Romance eBooks, climbing the interracial charts, but it also for a time hit #88 on Amazon’s top 100 erotica list on Kindle.

Wow!

Thank you again, and I hope those who have read it sincerely enjoy it.
